Job Opportunities

As you can imagine, there is a lot of work involved in running a farm.  Add to the animals and the gardens producing award-winning apple cider, a bakery, a farm store and a tour service. Our farm is open almost every day and we attract locals who stop in for fresh produce, busloads of school children and visitors from all over the world.  You can see we need a wide variety of help!

If you see work you would enjoy doing, email your letter of interest telling us a little about yourself, your related work experience, the days and hours you are available and your general salary requirements.  You can include a resume if you'd like.  Email it to our hiring assistant  wildcatweb@fairpoint.net

All of these positions require a light heart, a willing spirit and the eligibility to work in the US.

Pastry Chef ~ Baker with big batch baking and all the associated jobs like inventory, ordering and mixing.  Wey make 200-250 fruit pies in one day production line style on Tuesday.  These are unbaked and frozen.  You will also prepare dough for others to bake or fresh fry apple fritters and donuts served throughout the week.  You'll be making a variety of quick breads for our farm store and for local Farmer's Markets and lots of cookies and bars.   This is a full-time job and we're willing to consider two part-time people.

Bakery Assistant ~ Work at the direction of the Baker. Measure, mix and clean up!

Cashier/Hostess ~ While cashiering in our farm store is your primary responsibility, you'll be greeting everyone who walks in the door with a smile (think moms with toddlers, lots of school kids and people who may not speak English).  You'll weigh produce, make change, process credit cards and perform other work as needed in the farm store.

Bookkeeper ~ We're already set up in QuickBooks 2006.  Work hours are flexible (starting Mondays at 10 am).  The work includes invoicing, payables, receivables, payroll, quarterly reports plus.  We don't see this as a full-time job (20-30 hours a week) however, if you are willing to take over other areas like truck and equipment maintenance (bids for service, service records) the hours may increase.

General Farm Work Includes ~

Apple Cider Mondays! ~ Start early by sorting through huge bins of apples and removing any that won't turn in to delicious tasting cider, using a sharp paring knife to trim smaller spots off apples as they roll towards the "washing machine" and crusher, loading crushed apples into and operating the apple press, filling and capping pint, quart and gallon bottles, Depending on the season, this might take 8-12 hours.  We can schedule work hours flexibly.

Farm Store ~  Sort through produce for discards, restock produce, label apple cider jugs, fry donuts, put dough in the oven for fresh baked goods, stock cider and pies, prepare frozen berries to make cider blends and general housekeeping.

Bakery  ~ Tuesday and Wednesday are pie days!  Join other smiling faces in the bakery as we assemble 200-250 fruit pies, press dough into pie pans, fill with a variety of fruits, finish with appropriate topping, lid, label and freeze!

Animal Care  ~ We have cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits and more.  Each one needs food, water, house-keeping and some loving attention every day.

Gardens  ~  We grow a wide variety of flowers and produce.  From Debbie's dahlias to farm flower beds, green onions, tomatoes, pumpkins and more, the beds need preparation, seed sowing, transplanting, weeding, pinching and harvesting all delivered with joy and appreciation.  You can grow here, too!  Debbie farms with her heart and her plants and animals thrive.  Learn and earn while you work!  Get on board now for summer and fall work.

We could also use ~
Seasonal Farmer's Market assistance ~ meet the public, represent our farm and sell produce, cider and baked goods.
A driver to deliver our cider to the Seattle and Portland areas and pick up or deliver produce to other local farms
Someone with mechanical and or building skills to help with our farm equipment, upkeep and maintenance

Harvest help from mid-September to early November to include preparing our farm for Fall Festival that includes a Haunted House, Pumpkin Patch, music, food and lots of visitors!
